Training Modules for the Transition to Adult Living: An Information and Resource Guide

The three training modules (Service Provider Training, Administrator Training, and Family Workshop) are designed to accompany the Transition to Adult Living: An Information and Resource Guide.

Each module contains an agenda, a PowerPoint presentation with trainer's notes, and an information sheet on how to print the trainer's notes and handouts.

Each module offers at least two options: one option is information only, which is usually about 90 minutes long, and another option includes an activity which is usually two to four hours.

Service Provider Module

Using the guide as a reference, the Service Provider module presents detailed information about the IDEA '04 requirements for transition language in the IEP, ideas about assessment and goal writing, and an optional activity that offers participants an opportunity to apply what they learned in the training by writing sample transition service language for the IEP.

Administrator module

Using the guide as a reference, the Administrator module presents detailed information about the IDEA '04 requirements for Transition language in the IEP, discusses how schools and districts are held accountable for transition services, and an offers optional system Self Assessment and Action Plan activity to improve transition service practices.

Family Workshop Module

Using the guide as a reference, the Family Workshop module presents detailed information about the IDEA '04 requirements for transition language in the IEP, and guides participants through a discussion about how families can work with schools to help their children transition from school to adult living.
